Getafe consolidate their mid-table La Liga place with a 3-1 win over Celta Vigo thanks to strikes from Adrian Colunga, Diego Castro and Federico Fernandez.

Getafe secured a 3-1 home win over Celta Vigo as strikes from Adrian Colunga, Diego Castro and Federico Fernandez were enough to give them victory this afternoon.

The hosts started strongly and duly took the lead when Abdel Barrada found Colunga, who made no mistake slotting a left-footed shot into the net.

This lead didn't last long for the home side as they were pegged back as Augusto Fernandez headed Roberto Lago's cross past Miguel Angel Moya to get his side level.

Getafe, however, regained the lead in the 34th minute as Castro powered an effort into the bottom corner. It got better for the home side just before the break as Fernandez headed past Javi Varas to extend their lead.

After half time Getafe had great chances to put the game out of sight but Colunga and Barrada put their respective free kicks just over the bar when well placed just outside the penalty area.

Celta Vigo tried to press late on but efforts from Augusto Fernandez and Alex Lopez didn't trouble Miguel Angel Moya in the home side's goal as they held out for the win.
