Getafe end winless run with victory over Malaga

Michel's first-half goal gives Getafe a narrow 1-0 win at home to Malaga in La Liga.

Getafe have ended their three-game losing streak in La Liga with a narrow 1-0 win at home to Malaga.

The hosts threatened early on as Michel was denied by goalkeeper Idriss Kameni before Abdoul Yoda blasted his effort over the crossbar.

However, they made their pressure count on 25 minutes when Michel arrived in the box to sweep home Yoda's pass following a quick break.

Malaga responded well after going behind, but Ricardo Horta fired wide before Roque Santa Cruz had a tame shot saved by Vicente Guaita.

The visitors were much improved in the second half, with Duda coming closest to equalising when he saw his drive flash inches wide of the post on 62 minutes.

Malaga almost snatched a point late on thanks to Arthur Boka's low effort, but the defender's attempt was off target.

With time running out, the away side's misery was compounded in the second minute of stoppage time when Weligton was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
