Wolfgang Niersbach congratulates Germany for "historic" victory

Wolfgang Niersbach, president of the German Football Association, congratulates Joachim Low for a historic win over Brazil.

President of the German Football Association Wolfgang Niersbach has congratulated Joachim Low's side following their 7-1 thrashing of Brazil on Tuesday night.

Germany booked their spot in the World Cup final by cruising to an emphatic victory over the hosts, and Niersbach admits that it is difficult to describe how well the team played in Belo Horizonte.

"This is an historic day for German football," Niersbach told members of the media in Brazil. "I don't know what to say. Sensational, like a fairytale - they are all too weak expressions. That was football from another galaxy.

"I am so happy for the coach (Joachim Low) and the team. Now we want to do the next step.

"We can't go crazy now even if I would like to. Now we have to get the fourth star."

Germany will meet either Argentina or the Netherlands in Sunday's final.
