Fabian Johnson: 'USA won't play for draw'

USA defender Fabian Johnson insists that the team will not be playing for a draw in their match against Germany at the World Cup.

Fabian Johnson has insisted that the USA will not be trying to play for a draw in their final group match against Germany at the World Cup later today.

Both sides are currently on four points, while Ghana and Portugal have just one point, meaning that a draw would see both Germany and the Americans through to the last 16 regardless of the result in the other Group G match.

The USA defender, who was born in Munich to a German mother and American father, told reporters: "We want to win this game. It's just not in our nature to play for a draw.

"I think we're just all excited to have this chance to play against Germany. I know a few players, I've played with them."

Johnson represented Germany at youth level, but made his senior debut for the United States in 2011.
