Felix Magath 'disappointed and surprised' by Fulham axe

Felix Magath insists that he would have reversed Fulham's fortunes over time.

Felix Magath has said that he was "disappointed and surprised" by Fulham's decision to sack him on Thursday evening.

The German leaves the club rooted to the foot of the Championship with six defeats out of seven matches, but he insists that he would have reversed their fortunes over time.

"I am disappointed and surprised, because I am sure that I would have stopped the downfall of the club with drastic changes in the squad to a young team, although the first results of the season have not shown this," The Mirror quotes Magath as saying.

Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy recently threw his hat into the ring for the Fulham job.
