Fulham's new loan signing Urby Emanuelson admits that manager Martin Jol helped convince him to join the club from AC Milan.

Urby Emanuelson has revealed that manager Martin Jol played a major role in his decision to join Fulham on loan last month.

The Dutch international knew all about Jol prior to his switch from AC Milan, having worked with his fellow countryman at Ajax.

"Martin Jol was a big part of the move as I'd worked already with him," he told the club's official website.

"I need a little bit of trust at the moment and he's a coach who believes in me. That is one of the big reasons why I came here."

Emanuelson made his debut for the Whites during Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.
