Everton took the lead in the 12th minute when Steven Naismith latched onto Gerard Deulofeu's pass and fired through the legs of goalkeeper David Stockdale.

The away side came close to scoring a second goal through Sylvian Distin, but his header was cleared off the line.

Dimitar Berbatov saw a flicked header go close for the hosts before Deulofeu flashed a shot wide for Everton.

Pajtim Kasami wasted a chance to draw Fulham level after the interval but dragged his shot wide before Alexander Kacaniklic forced Joel Robles to palm his effort round the post.

The home side were level in the 54th minute through Berbatov, who slotted home from inside the box after the ball broke kindly for him.

Fulham took the lead midway through the half when Darren Bent finished past Robles following a free kick.

Romelu Lukaku then tested Stockdale with a powerful strike but the keeper was equal to his effort.

Seamus Coleman should have equalised for Everton in the final minute but he fired straight at Stockdale from close range.
