Stanislas Wawrinka: 'Incredible atmosphere spurred me on to French Open title'

French Open winner Stanislas Wawrinka dedicates his surprise win over Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros to coach Magnus Norman.

Stanislas Wawrinka has thanked those in attendance at Roland Garros for spurring him on to victory in this evening's French Open final against Novak Djokovic.

The Swiss battled from a set behind to claim a 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-4 comeback win, while at the same time denying his world number one opponent the chance of completing a career Grand Slam.

Both players gave their all in an entertaining affair, and a humble Wawrinka was quick to heap praise on others following the shock win.

"I want to say thank you to the crowd," the eighth seed is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It was an incredible atmosphere on court and I felt emotion like I never have before.

"I would also like to thank Magnus Norman my coach you played in the final twice without winning but this victory is yours as well as mine."

Wawrinka has now claimed two major titles, having also won the Australian Open in 2014.
