Freiburg ease past Eintracht Braunschweig

Freiburg record a 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig to move six points away from relegation danger.

Freiburg have recorded a routine 2-0 win at home to basement club Eintracht Braunschweig to move themselves further clear of relegation danger.

The start of the game was riddled with fouls as both teams look nervous, with very little goalmouth action in the opening five minutes.

However, with the first chance of the game Freiburg took the lead. Damir Vrancic was the unfortunate player who managed to head the ball past his own goalkeeper for an away goal.

Admir Mehmedi finally had the first genuine effort of the game with a header from a Jonathan Schmid cross, but he could only direct the chance over the bar.

The home side continued to press forward and Karim Guede was next to have a good opening from a Julian Schuster cross, but he too was unable to direct it on target.

Just after the break the hosts finally managed to make their dominance pay with a second goal. Schuster's shot from just inside the box was deflected off Ermin Bicakcic and past Daniel Davari.

With 15 minutes left to play Bicakcic squandered a really good chance to equalise, as he was only able to pick out Oliver Baumann with a downward header from eight yards.
