Ilicic scored from a free kick after Juan Guillermo Cuadrado was brought down 15 minutes into the match.

Both sides had opportunities to add to the score, with Fiorentina's Borja Valero and Atalanta's Yohan Benalouane guilty of missing good chances.

Luca Cigarini was sent off for a second bookable offence, and Wolski sealed the points for Fiorentina after putting away a Matias Fernandez through-ball.
