Preview: Fiorentina vs. AC Milan

Sports Mole previews Monday's Serie A clash between Fiorentina and AC Milan.

Fiorentina's recent blip comes at a time when AC Milan are finding form in Serie A.

Monday night's hosts are just four points away from the top three, but their eight-game unbeaten run in the top flight came crashing to an end in the form of a 4-0 loss to Lazio earlier this week.

Following that result, Vincenzo Montella's side failed to see out a victory against fellow Italian side Roma on Thursday night and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw on home turf in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.

Fiorentina's opponents reside 10th in the standings and are unbeaten in their last four league fixtures, but victories have been hard to come by having won just eight out of 26 matches.

On the road, Filippo Inzaghi's men have secured just two wins from 12, which isn't the most comforting statistic as Fiorentina have not suffered a loss in their last six home fixtures.

Mohamed Salah has been a welcome January arrival for Fiorentina as the Chelsea loanee has scored three goals in five games, despite struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old is expected to start on Monday, while Alessandro Diamanti is also expected to provide an attacking threat, but Nenad Tomovic will be absent from the defence as he serves a suspension.

The away side will be without Andrea Poli, Mattia de Sciglio and Stephan El Shaarawy due to injuries, but Mattia Destro, Alessio Cerci and Gabriel Paletta are all likely to feature.
