Portsmouth earn point in hard-fought draw

Portsmouth come from behind to earn a point at Exeter City after a Jed Wallace strike on 74 minutes.

Jed Wallace's strike earned a point for Portsmouth against Exeter City in League Two on Saturday afternoon.

Portsmouth dominated the earlier stages but it was Exeter who took the lead with 27 minutes on the clock after Tom Nicholls's strike.

There were plenty of half-chances for either side during the beginning of the second half, but neither could find the net to make a difference on the scoreline.

Pompey then squandered a fantastic opportunity to equalise as Andy Barcham burst through but Christy Pym came off his line and made the crucial save.

The away side were screaming for a penalty on 68 minutes after Ryan Taylor's shot was blocked by what appeared to be an arm, but the referee waved away the protests.

Pompey's penalty appeals were soon forgotten when Jed Wallace's strike through a sea of bodies found the back of the net to equalise for the travellers.

Exeter were looking content for a share of the spoils towards the end of the match but Pompey were eyeing a winner as the referee brought the game to a close.
