Samuel Eto'o exit 'to save Everton £6m'

Samuel Eto'o's expected move to Sampdoria will save Everton £6m in wages, according to reports.

Everton will reportedly save around £6m in wages if Samuel Eto'o completes his switch to Sampdoria this month as expected.

The Cameroonian forward is thought to be closing on a move to the Serie A giants and could put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Blucerchiati in the coming days.

According to The Mirror, Eto'o is only three appearances away from triggering a one-year extension at Everton and already earns wages of around £80,000 a week.

However, Eto'o is expected to take a significant pay cut to move to Samp and will accept a salary of just £25,000 per week.

As part of the deal, the former Inter Milan and Barcelona striker is said to have been promised a coaching role with the Genoa outfit when his playing days are over.
