Tim Howard: 'Everton loves John Stones'

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard praises John Stones for the way in which he put transfer speculation to one side to help the Toffees win a point at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tim Howard has suggested that the Everton team are completely behind John Stones amid intense speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.

The defender, 21, started tonight's 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur for what was his first appearance since having a transfer request turned down.

He was 'stalked' to a petrol station by a number of Everton fans directly after the 5-3 League Cup win at Barnsley in midweek, where he was reportedly reduced to tears when the supporters questioned him over his future.

"The sky is the limit for John Stones. He's got the full package. He's strong, good on the ball and he's a good kid. In the dressing room we love him," goalkeeper Howard told BT Sport.

"We support him 100% and he's been smiling all week."

Speculation is rife that Everton's firm stance on Stones has prompted Chelsea - who went as high as £35m in their attempts to prise him away - to pursue other targets in the last three days of the transfer window.
