Roberto Martinez excited by League Cup chances

Roberto Martinez is confident that Everton are strong enough to overcome Manchester City in the League Cup semi-finals.

Roberto Martinez has insisted that Everton should be confident about winning their first trophy since 1995 after reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup.

The Toffees continued their cup run by beating Middlesbrough 2-0 on Tuesday night to set up a tie with Manchester City, and Martinez believes that his squad is strong enough to deliver success for the club's supporters.

"Our team showed a real enjoyment with what we could achieve and I think we are ready to enjoy that pressure of not having won a title for a long time," the Spaniard told reporters.

"At this stage you don't expect to get any easy draws but we feel good, are playing really well and are confident of enjoying the two games against Manchester City.

"If you want to go all the way in any cup competition you get to a point where you have to play against the best and clearly City are one of the best in Europe."

Everton return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
