Half-Time Report: Steven Naismith puts Everton ahead

Steven Naismith scores shortly before half time to give Everton a 2-1 lead over Leicester City in their opening-day Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium.

Steven Naismith scored just before the break to give Everton a 2-1 lead over Leicester City at half time on the opening day of the new Premier League season.

The visitors had the majority of the possession in the opening 10 minutes as Romelu Lukaku tried to get an early shot away, but the record signing was being closely marked.

Roberto Martinez's side took the lead after 20 minutes when Aiden McGeady curled the ball into the top of the net for his first goal for the club.

The Foxes were back on level terms just two minutes later following a quick break, which eventually resulted in Leonardo Ulloa powering the ball home from a corner.

Both sides had chances to take the lead, but it was the visitors who did so as Steven Pienaar found Naismith to fire in off the underside of the bar just before the break.
