Espanyol held by Deportivo La Coruna

Espanyol fail to break down Deportivo La Coruna in a goalless draw at the Estadio Cornella-El Prat.

Deportivo La Coruna have held Espanyol to a frustrating goalless draw at the Estadio Cornella-El Prat this evening.

The home side were almost ahead on 12 minutes when Lucas's near-perfect free kick came back off the bar, while Fabri was forced into making a fine save shortly after to thwart Paco Montanes's effort at the end of a mazy run.

Gonzalez Soberon Alvaro was the next Periquitos player to come close to scoring, although he could not find the target from six yards out when the ball rebounded into his path.

Espanyol continued to dominate proceedings, but Lucas and Christian Stuani both wasted big chances of their own, while Fabri produced a string of impressive saves.

Deportivo did manage to hold on to take a point, however, which sees them move three points clear of the relegation zone.
