Jordan Henderson: 'We must remain confident'

England midfielder Jordan Henderson says that his team should not feel deflated after their 2-1 defeat to Italy at the World Cup.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson has said that his team should not feel deflated after losing their first game at the World Cup in Brazil.

The Three Lions were beaten 2-1 by Italy in their opening match in Group D thanks to Mario Balotelli's second-half header.

With two games left to play in the group, Henderson is confident that England can secure a place in the knockout stages.

"What we will do is keep confident, keep believing and look forward to the next game," he told Liverpool's official website.

"I felt as though we gave it everything and we worked really well as a team."

England face Uruguay in Sao Paulo on Thursday.
