Roy Hodgson raises midfield concerns ahead of France friendly

England boss Roy Hodgson raises concerns about the depth of his injury-depleted midfield ahead of the country's friendly fixture with France at Wembley.

England manager Roy Hodgson has expressed some concerns regarding his midfield options ahead of the country's friendly with France on Tuesday.

The Three Lions fell to a 2-0 defeat away in Spain on Friday night, but the result was the least of the manager's worries as he lost another player to injury when Michael Carrick twisted his ankle late on.

"Going into the game on Tuesday it's a bit worrying. The midfield is already very, very depleted and we lost another player in Michael Carrick," said Hodgson, according to Sky Sports News.

"And of course we want to be a bit careful with Fabian Delph because it was tough for him out there [against Spain] after the absence he has had from football for so long."

The injury to Carrick follows on from other knocks to Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere.
