Scottish Premiership roundup: Aberdeen defeat Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's action from the Scottish Premiership as Aberdeen consolidate second place with a 2-1 win over Inverness.

Aberdeen came from behind to defeat third-placed Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-1 in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.

Inverness dominated the match in the first half, but were unable to force an opening goal. Edward Ofere did eventually give them the lead early in the second half though, finishing into the roof of the net, but Niall McGinn's free kick 20 minutes later deflected off Inverness midfielder David Raven and into his own net.

McGinn completed the turnaround, finishing into an open goal after Adam Rooney's shot was parried to secure victory for the Dons.

St Johnstone moved up to fourth in the table by defeating Dundee 2-0. Danny Swanson gave the Saints the lead in the 53rd minute before Iain Davidson scored an own goal to guarantee the points for St Johnstone.

Dundee top scorer Greg Stewart received his marching orders in the second half, forcing the referee to show him a second yellow card after diving in the penalty area.

Bottom side St Mirren boosted their slim chances of avoiding relegation with a 4-1 win over Kilmarnock. Sean Kelly opened the scoring early on and Kieran Sadlier gave the Buddies a 2-0 lead at half time.

Veteran striker Stephen Thompson converted two second-half penalties to secure the points and St Mirren now sit seven points behind Motherwell with four games remaining.

In the day's other fixture, Partick Thistle came from behind to beat Ross County 2-1. Michael Gardyne gave Ross County the lead, but Frederic Frans and Stephen O'Donnell got the goals to give Partick victory.

Hamilton defeated St Mirren 2-0 on Friday evening and champions-elect Celtic will play Dundee United on Sunday.
