Visiting defender Gary Irvine is shown a straight red card in a goalless first half between Dundee United and Dundee at Tannadice Park.

Dundee defender Gary Irvine has been shown a straight red card in the first half of today's derby clash with Dundee United at Tannadice Park.

The 28-year-old was given his marching orders on 21 minutes after he committed a nasty-looking tackle on Richie Ryan.

United have gone close to breaking the deadlock on a number of occasions.

Gary Mackay-Steven, Stuart Armstrong and Rory Boulding have all missed the target from close range.

Jon Daly has forced a point-black save out of goalkeeper Steve Simonsen, who is making his Dundee debut.
