Jason Shackell's Derby County return edges closer?

Burnley defender Jason Shackell is close to making a return to former club Derby County, according to a report.

Derby County are reportedly close to completing a deal to bring former captain Jason Shackell back to the club.

The 31-year-old defender left the Rams in 2012 to join Burnley, but he has been strongly linked with a return to the iPro Stadium since the Clarets' relegation from the Premier League.

Derby boss Paul Clement hinted earlier this week that he was hopeful a deal could be wrapped up soon, while Sean Dyche himself admitted that Shackell may be on the move before the window closes.

According to BBC Sport, County are now close to re-signing the Englishman who made 49 appearances for the club in 2011-12.
