Derby County 1-1 Peterborough

Peterborough draw 1-1 with Derby County after a late equaliser from David Ball.

A 81st-minute equaliser from David Ball saw Peterborough share the points with Derby County at Pride Park on the final day of the Championship season.

Peterborough started the game well and had the first chance through Lee Tomlin, who burst through the midfield before hitting a 25-yard shot just past the post.

Steve Davies had the home side's first chance on nine minutes, though Paul Jones pulled off a stunning diving save to his left to deny the midfielder.

Soon after, Jones was in action to deny Davies again, producing another fine save to keep out a low free kick from a 30 yards.

Tyrone Barnett hit a volley straight at Derby goalkeeper Adam Legzdins after some good work by Paul Taylor on the by-line to create the chance.

Derby took the lead through Theo Robinson on 22 minutes, guiding home from Tyson's cross from the left hand side.

On 27 minutes, Derby had a shout for a penalty turned down by the referee after Boyd looked as if he has pulled down Tyson. Despite the protests, the referee waved play on.

The Posh came close to an equaliser on 42 minutes when Tomlin's powerful 30-yard drive went just past the post.

The half time whistle blew with Derby 1-0 up.

The Rams had the first opportunity of the second half when Bryson fired over from 25 yards.

The second half began in a frantic fashion, with chances being created at either end. McCann and Alcock both saw shots blocked as the game went from end to end.

Derby through they had made it 2-0 on 50 minutes when Tyson finished from close range, though the offside flag was up to deny the home side a two-goal advantage.

A minute later, Hendrick fired wide from distance after being afforded time and plenty of space 25-yards from goal.

On 72 minutes, Jones made a stop to deny a curling shot from Robinson.

The Posh nearly caught the hosts on the counter-attack, but Tomlin dragged a left-foot shot wide on 75 minutes.

On 81 minutes, Posh found an equaliser as substitute David Ball finished superbly into the top corner after a clever through ball from McCann.

On 88 minutes, Posh came close to an unlikely winner after Boyd's powerful drive struck the angle of post and crossbar.

The game finished at 1-1, as Derby confirmed a 12th-place finish, while Peterborough ended their season in 18th place.
