Steve McClaren determined to reach last eight of the FA Cup

Derby County boss Steve McClaren is adamant that he wants his side to maintain their good run of form in the cup competitions ahead of their FA Cup clash with Reading.

Derby County boss Steve McClaren is determined to maintain his side's good run of form in the cup competitions when they take on Reading in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Rams reached the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup earlier in the season before they were knocked out by Chelsea, while they have recorded victories over Southport and Chesterfield to set up their last-16 match against the Royals.

"We want to win the game, it's the FA Cup and there's a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs," McClaren told the club's official website.

"We know about Reading as we've faced the a few times this season, but they're a different animal now under Steve Clarke. They have good players but it is about what we do; we're at home and it will be a tough game.

"The Capital One Cup and FA Cup have served some great football this season and there's an appetite for Cup football here, just look at the crowds we've been getting. We like the cups and they've been good to us and we want to get into the quarter-finals."

McClaren's side have recorded wins over Reading in their prior two meetings this season.
