Deportivo La Coruna have given their La Liga survival hopes a boost with a 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Celta Vigo at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor.

The victory has lifted Fernando Vazquez's side to within six points of safety, while Celta stay three points off 17th place.

The hosts went ahead in the ninth minute when Riki showed great control in the area before volleying into the top corner.

Celta were reduced to 10 men on 30 minutes as Iago Aspas was shown a straight red card for headbutting Manuel Pablo.

It was 2-0 just after the hour when Silvio thumped a spectacular long-range effort past goalkeeper Javi Varas.

Substitute Diogo Salomao slotted in to extend their advantage in the 79th minute before Park Chu-Young grabbed a consolation for the visitors soon after.
