Jake Reed happy with drop down the leagues

Former Dagenham & Redbridge striker Jake Reed says that he is not disappointed to have joined Ryman Premier Division side Lowestoft Town.

Jake Reed has insisted that he is happy to continue his career outside of the professional game.

The 22-year-old was signed by Dagenham & Redbridge in 2011, but having only been able to find the net on one occasion, his contract was cancelled at the start of this month.

He has since joined Ryman Premier Division side Lowestoft Town, for whom he scored four goals in a 5-0 win over Carshalton Athletic at the weekend.

However, rather than view the move as a step down, the striker has revealed that he is pleased to have joined his hometown club.

"I'm quite happy with the four goals – it seems like I haven't scored in a long while obviously being away at Dagenham but I'm glad to be involved and playing again. Everything seemed to keep coming to me and I just kept putting them away. It's not always like that," he told the Eastern Daily Press.

"This is my hometown and this is my local club and it's always one of the best things to play for your home town isn't it? When I was released by Dagenham I've got a few mates and they rang a few clubs and that's how it came about. This is was always where I was going to end up."

Reed made a total of 38 appearances for the Daggers.
