Steve Parish: 'Warnock is a safe choice'

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish believes that the appointment of manager Neil Warnock is a "good fit" for the club.

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has revealed that he considers Neil Warnock to be a "safe" choice after he was appointed as the club's new manager.

Warnock has returned to Selhurst Park on a two-year deal after previously being in charge between 2007 and 2010, and Parish thinks that the former Sheffield United and Leeds United boss is a "good fit" for the Premier League side.

"He's someone who has been helpful to me and has offered advice. He's a safe pair of hands for us right now and he's got unfinished business in the Premier League after his situations with Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"I think that he's got things that he wants to prove to himself. He likes the club, he's got a lot of affection for the fans and it felt a good fit.

"We want to put some planning in place. Once this season is out of the way, Neil and me will sit down and talk about that and hopefully we can plan a future for the club in more considered fashion."

Warnock's first match in charge will be away at Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
