Alan Pardew: 'Jordon Mutch can rediscover best form'

Alan Pardew is confident that Jordon Mutch can overcome his injury problems to find his best form for Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has backed Jordon Mutch to find fitness and form at the club after completing his move to Selhurst Park.

The Eagles confirmed the signing of the midfielder from Queens Park Rangers in a £4.5m deal on Thursday, and Pardew is confident that the 23-year-old can produce the kind of performances which caught his eye when he was Newcastle United boss last season.

"It's true that he has had a number of injuries. You never know with a young player. His fitness and playing every week is the benchmark for him," Pardew told reporters.

"I was impressed by Mutch at Cardiff last season when I was Newcastle boss. I spoke to Malky [Mackay] about him.

"He has fantastic technique. His left foot hit is as hard as his right. It's difficult to work out. One of our defensive statements and many Premier League teams is to not show the goal to a player. But it is very difficult not to show him the goal because he goes both sides and hits it just as well off both feet. He will score goals."

Mutch could make his Palace debut against Everton on Saturday.
