Steve Clarke, Neil Warnock 'only contenders for Crystal Palace job'

Steve Clark and Neil Warnock are reportedly the only candidates in the frame to become the new Crystal Palace manager.

Crystal Palace are reportedly planning to appoint either Steve Clarke or Neil Warnock as their new manager.

The Premier League side have been hunting for a new coach following the shock departure of Tony Pulis just two days before the season began on August 16.

Former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay was in line to take over, but the deal fell through after allegations regarding offensive text messages came to light.

According to BBC Sport, ex-West Bromwich Albion coach Clarke is in the frame along with former Leeds United manager Warnock, but Palace are planning to hold talks among the hierarchy today before making a final decision.

Clarke, who recently admitted that he would be interested in taking the role at Selhurst Park, has been out of work since getting sacked at The Hawthorns in December.

Warnock, who took charge of Palace back in 2007 for a three-year stint, has been taking on media duties since leaving his role at Elland Road in April last year.
