Barry Bannan excited by Alan Pardew arrival at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan claims that Alan Pardew's arrival at the club has given him a new lease of life.

Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan has revealed that he is already enjoying working with new manager Alan Pardew.

Bannan struggled for first-team action under previous boss Neil Warnock, but he has started Palace's last two games with Pardew in charge.

As the Eagles look to climb up the Premier League table, Bannan is looking forward to being given more time out on the pitch.

"I was being kept here, but I was not being kept here to play. It was frustrating," he is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard. "I went and spoke to [Warnock] a couple of times to see if I could go out on loan, and I was not allowed to.

"There is a new start for everyone with the new gaffer coming in and I am looking forward now. He wanted creative players with a risk factor. We have been lacking a cutting edge and he has given me the license to go and make things happen for the team."

Palace are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they face fellow strugglers Burnley at Turf Moor.
