Congo and Libya met in their final group game of their African Nations Championship campaign.

Libya needed only a point to advance, while Congo needed a victory to guarantee their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

It was looking that Congo were going to advance at the expense of Libya as they edged to a 2-0 lead with 70 minutes to go, but a goal Abdulsalam Omar set up a tense finish and in added time Abdelrahman Fetori fired home an equaliser to send his side through and Congo out of the tournament.

Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the African Nations Championship clash between Congo and Libya.

This is a vital game for both sides as they need the three points to guarantee their place in the quarter finals of the competition. A draw is only a good result for Libya, as Congo's goal difference is not as good as Ghana's so unless Ehtiopia can beat Ghana by two goals, Congo have to win this game.

If Congo win this game and Ghana beat Ehtiopia, it's Libya who will crash out of the competition. So there's so much to play for in this 90 minutes in Group C.

CONGO STARTING XI: Mouyabi, N'Kodia, Moubhio, Miangounina, Ankira, Binguila, Nkounkou, Nkolo, Lakolo, Magnokele, Obassi.

CONGO SUBS: Massa, Moukassa, Nkouka, Bhebey, Kinfounia, Beranger, Bidimbou, Andzouana, Baleckita, Mabiala, Ndzila, Tchibota.

LIBYA STARTING XI: Abdaula, Salama, Fetori, El Trbi, Sabbou, Elhouni, Ghanodi, Al Badri, Elgadi, Algritly, Abushnaf.

LIBYA SUBS: Al Maghasi, Al Alwany, Chtiba, Al Gabsi, Fadel, Mahfud, Eshnayna, Mohamed, Saltou, Omar, Elwerfelli, Elhadi

The players are making their way out onto the pitch and we should be underway shortly.

KICKOFF! Libya get us underway.

Congo win a free kick just outside the penalty area as El Trbi brings down Obassi as he tried to raid forward into the box.

SHOT! Nkounkou takes the free kick and his effort does threaten the goal of Abdaula as it goes well past the post and was too high anyway. Didn't have much going for it, that effort.

A couple of heavy challenges early on force Ankira and Nkounkou off the pitch but they appear ok to continue.

Libya's turn to win a free kick about 25 yards from goal as Abushnaf goes down under the challenge of Miangounina.

SHOT! Ghanodi strikes the ball at goal with power and he gets his effort over the wall but his shot goes just wide the post, with Mouyabi scrambling across his goal.

Congo work the ball forward down the right, but Salama does well to win the ball from Obassi but the ball goes only as far as Binguila on the edge of the box, who tries to find Lakolo at the back post with a lofted cross but it goes out of play.

Hardly a classic game so far, as both teams have been wasteful in possession especially in the final third of the pitch, as every attack has broken down so far due to a misplaced pass. Their seems to be some tension out there.

Libya are enjoying the majority of possession at the moment but they are just knocking the ball around at the back and are lacking in any penetration at the moment. As soon as they are crossing the half-way line, pressure comes on the ball and they give it away, it's becoming quite repetitive.

Lakolo picks the ball up in midfield and drives at goal, he beats a challenge on the edge of the box faints a shot and tries to play in Nkolo down the right flank but the duo aren't on the same page and the ball goes out for a throw-in.

CHANCE! Libya come close to opening the scoring as a cross is whipped in from the left from a free kick by Elhouni and the ball in is excellent and in a difficult area for the keeper, and El Trbi gets a head to it, but his effort goes inches past the post. He really should have scored there.

Obassi is found in space about 30 yards from goal, he turns and runs at the Libya defence and with support, he decides to shoot from distance and the ball goes well wide of the post. That was very wasteful from the striker.

DISALLOWED GOAL! Congo think they've taken the lead as Binguila's cross from the left, is turned into his own net by Abdaula but as they celebrate the referee rules the goal out as Obassi interfered with the keeper, as he stuck his hands in his face to make him drop the ball. Good decision by the referee.

That was a real opportunity for Congo, who are slowly creeping into this game but Obassi cost them there. He needs to up his game as he has been poor for them so far this evening.

Libya are back into their passing game but again are struggling to move the ball in the final third of the pitch, it will be interesting to see how long they are willing to persist with his patient approach of knocking it around at the back.

GOAL! Congo 1-0 Libya (Nkounkou)

Congo take the lead as Nkonkou finds the net from close range with a volley that is slightly mis-hit but he still finds the corner to beat Abdaula, after Ankira's blocked shot fell right into his path 10 yards from goal and he made no mistake to break the deadlock. That's an important goal and could be the one to send Congo through to the last eight.

That goal will force Libya out of their patient passing game, as it stands they're heading out of the competition and need to do something to get back in. A lot of pressure just got put on them.

Congo threaten down the right and win a corner, Magnokele whips the ball in with his left foot and Abdaula comes a long way out of his goal to punch the ball clear and he gets just enough on it to get the ball away from goal, as Miangounina looked to head in, behind him.

We might have expected a response to going behind from Libya, but it's Congo who are pressing to get a second goal before the break, they have complete control of this game at the moment.

There will be two minutes of added time, just as Nkonkou goes down with an ankle knock after colliding with Sabbou down the flank.

HALF TIME: Congo 1-0 Libya

Congo lead at the break and it's an important advantage as if they hold out here, they will advance to the quarter finals of the competition instead of Libya this evening, as Nkonkou's 35th minute goal is the difference between the sides.

Libya have offered very little in the first half and seemed to almost be playing for the draw, to force Congo onto them and play on the counter. They defended poorly and didn't attack with pace and have paid the price for their poor football in the first 45 minutes. They need to find something in the second half, to keep themselves in the tournament.

The players are making their way back out onto the pitch and we should be underway shortly.

Just to keep you informed of the other Group C game going on at the moment. It's 0-0 between Ethiopia and Ghana and as explained before, that would mean that Libya would be the team that is going home along with Ethiopia who are already out.

We're back underway in this Group C clash.

Concern for Congo as keeper Mouyabi goes down after coming out of his net to claim a cross but after some treatment he appears to be ok.

SUBSTITUTION: Libya make a change as Saltou comes on for Elhouni.

GOAL! Congo 2-0 Libya (Binguila)

Congo double their lead and it's a fantastic strike from Binguila as he receives the ball 25 yards from goal, and lets fly with a spectacular effort and the ball flies past the outstretched hand of Abdaula and hits the inside of the post and lands in the net. Congo are edging closer to the next round of the competition.

Again there's little response from Libya to going two goals behind this time, they haven't looked a threat at all in this game and that will need to change if they are going to stay in the competition. It doesn't look likely at the minute though.

The possession game from Libya continues and the ball comes to Al Badri in space about 25 yards from goal and he has the chance to slip a ball behind the Congo defence for the run of Ghanodi but his pass is poor and is intercepted by Ankira, who clears the danger.

Finally some pressure from Libya as they manage to force a corner down the left, the first delivery from Algritly is cleared behind for another corner by Moubhio who gets a big head to the ball to stop El Trbi from getting there, but the second cross is poor as Mouyabi gathers the ball with ease.

CHANCE! Congo come close to getting their third goal of the evening as Binguila causes problems down the right and he hits a cross to the back post for Nkounkou who gets a header on the ball as he beat Fetori in the air, but he was leaning backwards and couldn't generate any power and his effort went over.

Libya show their desperation slightly as the ball is played high into the area and Miangounina leaps to try and head the ball out of Mouyabi's grasp and absolutely clatters him in the process, and more treatment is required for the keeper.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Abushnaf and Algritly make way for Libya and are replaced by Omar and Fadel.

It's getting a bit desperate for Libya at the moment as they are just launching hopeful ball after hopeful ball into the penalty area, and Mouyabi is proving his fitness making claim after claim with relative ease, despite a little bit of pressure now and then. It needs to be a lot better from Clemente's side.

Congo work the ball nicely down the left and Magnokele makes an excellent surging forward run and is picked out with a back heeled pass by Nkonkou, and he raids into the box and should shoot but he tries one more pass inside to Binguila and is dispossessed.

GOAL! Congo 2-1 Libya (Omar)

Libya get themselves back into the game as finally one of those crosses into the box pays off for them as Congo allow a deep ball from Al Badri to travel to the back post, where the ball finds Omar who takes a touch to get it under control and then blasts an effort past Mouyabi into the top corner. Better from Libya and there's hope yet.

Libya are exerting real pressure on Congo now as they win back-to-back corners but they manage to scramble the ball away for now.

CHANCE! A cross comes in from the left for Ghanodi as Saltou picks him out, but he can't get the ball under control as he is unmarked at the back post and Mouyabi is able to pounce on the ball before the striker can get a foot to it again.

Congo have done a good job of taking the pace out of the game in the last few minutes, the tempo has dropped right off and Libya are having to pump the ball long into the Congo half to try and generate a pace to the game. We're set for a good finish here.

UPDATE! Ghana have taken the lead in their clash with Ethiopia, so if the results stay the same they will go through as Group C winners.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Congo make three changes as Mabiala, Bidimbou and Tchibota replace Nkounkou, Obassi and Nkolo.

Desperation time for Libya as they throw everyone forward from the back and Al Badri lifts a cross into the area, Miangounina heads the ball clear but only as far as Omar who gets his head at it but the ball goes behind for a goal kick. Mouyabi will take his time with this I'm sure.

There will be four minutes of added time.

GOAL! Congo 2-2 Libya (Fetori)

LIBYA GET FIND THE NET! That goal will send them through to the quarter finals of the competition as a long ball into the area is cleared but only as far as Fetori who lets fly on the half-volley from 30 yards out and his effort sails into the bottom corner, bouncing over the outstretched hand of Mouyabi. Incredible scenes as the players and the coaches go made celebrating on the sidelines, what a goal and what heartbreak for Congo.

FULL TIME: Congo 2-2 Libya

What incredible scenes as Libya come from 2-0 and looking dead and buried, to seal their place in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship. Omar's strike after 75 minutes gave them hope but it was looking bleak until Fetori fired home from distance with a superb volley. They were more than happy as the coaching staff and players sprinted onto the pitch at the final whistle as they miraculously kept their hopes of winning the tournament alive. Remarkable stuff.

Spare a though for Congo though, as they must have though at 2-0 they were heading into the last eight. They were by far the better team but were undone by two good goals and perhaps some questionable defending at the most crucial time. They will have a long time to think about it on the journey home.

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. We'll be back tomorrow with all the action from Group D for the final round of group games. Until then, goodbye.
