Lazio held to goalless draw by lowly Chievo

Lazio are unable to break down Chievo in a goalless Serie A encounter at the Stadio Marcantonio.

Chievo have climbed out of the bottom three of Serie A by holding Lazio to a goalless draw at the Stadio Marcantonio this evening.

The first chance of the contest fell the way of the visitors, with Marco Parolo failing to find the target after being picked out by Stefano Mauri inside the opposition's area.

Antonio Candreva was the next Lazio player to come close to scoring, this time forcing a save out of Christian Puggioni after getting in a shot on goal.

In the end, neither side could find a way through in the first half, however, and the second 45 minutes unfolded in a familiar fashion.

Mariano Izco and Mauri both saw chances come and go as the Biancocelesti closed in on an opening goal, but a mixture of bad finishing and good goalkeeping denied them the chance of finding a breakthrough.

Despite dropping two pointsm Lazio remain in the division's top five, while Chievo are now in 17th place.
