Striker Chris Iwelumo signs a one-year deal with Conference Premier side Chester City.

Chester City have announced that they have signed former St Johnstone striker Chris Iwelumo.

Iwelumo had been released by the Scottish Premiership side at the end of last season, but the veteran forward has been quick to tie down a new club for the upcoming campaign.

Manager Steve Burr told the club's official website: "Chris will be a big addition to the squad and like the rest of the lads we've got together, he can't wait to get started.

"He's experienced, big and strong and he will be a real handful to play against."

The 35-year-old failed to score in eight substitute appearances for St Johnstone after joining the club in January.
