Paul Scholes: 'Chelsea are clinical in transfer window'

Paul Scholes believes that Chelsea are always "clinical" when they enter the transfer market.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that Chelsea carry out their transfer business in a "clinical" fashion.

The Blues and Premier League champions Manchester City were the only top-flight giants to strengthen significantly, with the arrivals of Juan Cuadrado and Wilfried Bony respectively.

The West London outfit also sold Andre Schurrle and Ryan Bertrand, while loaning Mohamed Salah to Fiorentina, which left them with an overall profit of around £7m.

"There were not many surprises this time around and as usual it looks like Chelsea have done the best business," Scholes wrote in his column for The Independent.

"They seem to be clinical about it these days. You knew that if it was Juan Cuadrado they wanted, they would get him."

Last summer, Chelsea acquired the signatures of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis.
