Real Madrid ready to move for Chelsea's John Obi Mikel?

Real Madrid emerge as surprise contenders for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a shock summer swoop for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

The Nigerian international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, having made only 12 appearances for the Blues this term.

While Southampton were believed be interested in bringing Mikel in to replace Morgan Schneiderlin, Tuttomercatoweb claims that Real have become surprise frontrunners for the player.

It is thought that Los Merengues boss Carlo Ancelotti is eyeing the 28-year-old, whom he worked with during his time in charge of Chelsea, as he expects to lose the services of Sami Khedira this summer.

Mikel's exit from the West London club could be hastened, with Jose Mourinho said to be plotting a move for Juventus's French star Paul Pogba.
