Chelsea midfielder Ramires welcomes compatriot Oscar to Stamford Bridge with open arms.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires has welcomed compatriot Oscar to Stamford Bridge and is confident that the youngster will be important for the Blues next season.

The 20-year-old joined Chelsea from Internacional on Wednesday following a protracted transfer negotiation, and arrives in the Premier League with a strong reputation.

Oscar is rated as one of the more promising creative players in world football, and fellow Brazilian midfielder Ramires is confident that he will fulfil his potential in England.

"The confirmation of the signing of Oscar made us very happy," he told Lancenet. "As far as David Luiz, Lucas Piazon and I are concerned he will feel at home from his first day at the club.

"It is good that the perception of Brazilian players not being able to adapt to English football is changing.

"I am sure Chelsea will be very beneficial for Oscar's career and he will help us a lot to fight for titles. We are here to help him in what he needs."

Oscar is Chelsea's fourth signing of the summer following the acquisition of Marko Marin and brothers Eden and Thorgan Hazard, leading Ramires to believe that Roberto Di Matteo's side will be better equipped for next season.

"This preparation period has been great to make the team gel and make the players become fit," enthused the 25-year-old.

"We lost some key players like Drogba, but we signed some talented players like Oscar and Hazard, so we didn't lose strength.

"I am confident that we will have a great season, but the truth is that in football you have to produce on the pitch. We will keep working to be in condition to produce our best when the season starts."

Chelsea are currently in the United States on a pre-season tour and will take on AC Milan in a friendly on Saturday.
