The 25-year-old - who joined Marseille from Monaco in 2011 - has made 136 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Marseille would be willing to sell the Cameroonian defender - who has less than a year remaining on his current contract - for just £7.2m.
Nkoulou has made 63 international appearances for Cameroon.
