Recently reappointed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho confirms that long-serving skipper John Terry will stay on as the team captain.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that John Terry will remain as Chelsea captain at the beginning of his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.

On Monday, the self-proclaimed 'Special One' held his first press conference since being reappointed Blues manager and Terry's role with the club was one of many topics of discussion.

The 32-year-old Chelsea stalwart found himself out of favour under interim boss Rafael Benitez last season, with Frank Lampard and Petr Cech among those to take the armband in his absence.

Several reports had claimed that Mourinho was preparing to make fan favourite David Luiz skipper for next campaign, but the Portuguese tactician has revealed that Terry will continue to lead the club he has represented 575 times.

Mourinho told reporters: "John is the club captain. I'm more than happy with that and so are the fans."

Terry was Chelsea's official captain throughout the entirety of Mourinho's first tenure at the club between 2004 and 2007.
