Report: Chelsea fail with Marquinhos bids

Chelsea reportedly make two late attempts to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos.

Chelsea have reportedly attempted to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos on deadline day.

The 21-year-old has spent two seasons with the French club since joining from Roma in 2013.

The Blues have been in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer and signed Papy Djilobodji from Nantes earlier.

Chelsea have been linked with Everton centre-back John Stones, but it appears that they have ended that pursuit for now after seeing three bids knocked back by the Toffees.

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea have made two offers for Marquinhos between £26m and £40m but PSG have turned them down.

Marquinhos has made one appearance for the Ligue 1 side so far this season.
