Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reveals that he 'passed up' on striker Diego Costa eight years ago when his new signing was at Braga.

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he 'passed up' on striker Diego Costa eight years ago when the Spanish international was at Portuguese side Braga as a teenager.

Mourinho claimed that many managers and clubs failed to recognise the potential of the striker, including himself.

"To be fair when he was in Portugal I had a look at him, so everybody was blind, including myself," Mourinho told Sky Sports News.

Costa signed for Chelsea on a five-year deal earlier this summer, costing the Blues £32m.
