Chelsea keeper Petr Cech reveals that he hopes to sign a new contract with the club in the near future.

Chelsea's Petr Cech has said that he wants to sign a new deal with the West London club.

The Czech keeper has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after reports suggested that Andre Villas-Boas may favour summer signing Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan at Atletico Madrid this season.

However, Cech has insisted that he wants to remain a Blues player and is hoping to extend his current contract.

"Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be at a club who are among the best in the world," Cech told the London Evening Standard.

"Chelsea are in the world's top competition, so I have no reason to leave. I would like to see myself staying here."

He also revealed that he would not rule out a move in the future but that he would only consider leaving for another top club.

"You never know, everything happens fast in the football life. You can sign a ten-year contract with a club and then end up leaving after three years.

"I'm 29 years old and I believe that there is still time for a possible change."

The Czech international has made 338 appearances for the Blues since his £7m move from Rennes in 2004.
