Petr Cech: 'Chelsea on brink of new era'

Petr Cech hopes that Chelsea's impending Premier League title win will be the start of a new era of success at Stamford Bridge.

Petr Cech believes that winning the Premier League title this season could usher in a new era of success at Chelsea.

The Blues are on the brink of lifting their fourth title in 10 years and the first since Jose Mourinho returned to the club in 2013.

Victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday will make Chelsea champions and, despite losing his starting spot to Thibaut Courtois this season, Cech is delighted to have the chance to win the league at Stamford Bridge.

"The last title we won was in 2010 so it has been a long time. This one is hopefully the start of a new era, another generation of players," the Czech international told the London Evening Standard.

"There is only me Didier [Drogba] and JT [John Terry] who have been here for the last decade. You can say this is a new generation of Chelsea, hopefully we will confirm the title on Sunday and this team will continue on.

"It's been 10 years on and we're still here. It is a great feeling to have another chance to win another title. It is definitely better to win it at home – that's the icing on the cake. If we win the title on Sunday it will be the perfect way."

Chelsea won consecutive titles under Mourinho in 2005 and 2006.
