Half-Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur come from behind to lead Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur come from behind to take a 3-1 lead into half time in their Premier League match against Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur have come from a goal down to take a 3-1 lead into half time in their Premier League match against Chelsea at White Hart Lane this evening.

Chelsea saw the majority of the possession in the opening few minutes, but it was Spurs who were first to test the opposition keeper when Nabil Bentaleb unleashed a strike from just outside the box although it was a comfortable save for Thibaut Courtois.

Chadli continued to stretch the visitors in the early stages, trying to set up Andros Townsend for a shot before attempting an overhead bicycle kick, which Courtois was able to deflect clear.

Jose Mourinho's side were ahead less than 20 minutes in though, when Eden Hazard saw his effort bounce back off the post, but Oscar quickly curled it back in for Diego Costa to tap in with a low finish at the far post.

Chelsea looked to double their lead a few minutes later when Costa provided the through-ball for Oscar, but the Brazilian's finish was a fraction wide.

Tottenham were back on level terms on the half-hour mark when Harry Kane picked up the ball outside the box before blasting it into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.

Hazard had a chance to put Chelsea back in front late on, but he headed wide, allowing Spurs to get back on the attack and edge ahead for the first time when Chadli struck the post to leave Danny Rose to smash in the rebound from close range.

Things got worse for the visitors before the break when Gary Cahill brought Kane down in the box in stoppage time, allowing Townsend to increase their lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.
