How Cardiff City could line up against Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at how Cardiff City may line up when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

Cardiff City take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend seeking their first win of the Premier League campaign at the fifth attempt.

The Bluebirds have played out goalless draws with Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town, bookended by defeats to Bournemouth and Arsenal.

Neil Warnock saw his side finally get off the mark in terms of goals scored last time out, as City came close to snatching a point in a 3-2 loss to the Gunners.

The veteran manager now has a trip to Stamford Bridge to prepare for, where Cardiff do not have the most impressive of records.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Warnock may set out his side for Saturday afternoon's clash.

Possible CAR XI vs. CHE
Out: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
Doubtful: Aron Gunnarsson, Josh Murphy

The fitness of Gunnarsson, who has yet to feature for the Bluebirds in their second ever Premier League campaign, could well determine what shape Warnock goes with in West London.

If the Iceland international is deemed fit enough to start, a five-man midfield is a strong possibility, seeing Gunnarsson line up alongside Joe Ralls and Harry Arter in the middle.

Victor Camarasa, used predominantly as a central midfielder, was asked to fill in out wide against Arsenal and performed well, while Junior Hoilett was City's most dangerous player from wide areas in their promotion from the second tier.

Up top, Danny Ward took his big opportunity when handed a start against Arsenal by netting a decent header and looks good value to keep his place ahead of Kenneth Zohore, while Bobby Reid is a more attacking alternative if Gunnarsson misses out on selection, as expected.
