Celtic fail to regain top spot in the SPL, with a draw at home to St Johnstone.

Celtic could not reclaim top spot in the Scottish Premier League, drawing at home to St Johnstone this afternoon.

The opening exchanges were quite even, with Miku missing a chance to put Celtic ahead before Fraser Forster produced a good save to deny Steven MacLean.

Celtic moved Kris Commons further forward midway through the half and almost reaped the rewards when he produced a good turn just outside the box, but his shot went over the bar.

Miku was replaced by Tony Watt at half-time and the substitute had an instant impact, bundling the ball home after 51 minutes.

Shortly afterwards St Johnstone brought on Gregory Tade who was involved straight away, claiming a penalty after being put clean through, but only a corner was given.

From the resulting corner Nigel Hasselbaink found space at the back post to equalise for the away side.

Celtic brought on Beram Kayal and Dylan McGeouch towards the end but could not find a winner despite late pressure.
