The Green Brigade slam "pathetic" Celtic

Celtic fans group 'The Green Brigade' label the club "pathetic" after their section was closed down due to safety concerns.

Celtic fans group 'The Green Brigade' have slammed the club after they chose to close the section of their ground that usually houses the most vocal supporters.

The Bhoys announced the closure earlier today, having been handed a UEFA disciplinary charge for their supporters' conduct during a Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville last month.

The Green Brigade have gained notoriety for their passionate support of the club in recent seasons, but they are now seeking legal advice having seen their section closed off.

"The Green Brigade are disappointed to announce that our section in 111 is to be closed by Celtic Football Club. Pathetically, this is due to 'lateral movement' which has been deemed 'unsafe' by the club's directors," read a statement on the group's website.

"Our group and section has continually made concessions and strived to be co-operative with the club over various safety concerns so we are left dismayed that such drastic and immediate action has been taken over such a trivial and harmless movement.

"The group is currently seeking legal advice and will consult with those in our section over the coming days. We would like to stress that this is not the end of the Green Brigade. Decisions and hurdles like these will only strengthen our group's resolve."

Fans who have already purchased tickets in the section will be offered the chance to relocate or get a refund.
