A report in France suggests that Cardiff City are close to signing defender Kevin Theophile-Catherine from Rennes.

Cardiff City are reportedly close to completing a deal for French full-back Kevin Theophile-Catherine.

The former Under-21 international has been left out of Rennes team to face Lille on Saturday and is believed to be present at the Bluebirds' home game against Everton as he looks to seal the transfer, Mercato365 reports.

Should the deal be completed, then it would be Cardiff's seventh signing of the summer as they look to survive their first season back in the English top flight.

On Friday, Cardiff manager Malky Mackay added Uruguayan defender Maximiliano Amondarain to his squad, after the 20-year-old impressed during his trial at the club.
