Tom Adeyemi joins Cardiff City on three-year deal

Cardiff City announce the capture of Tom Adeyemi from Birmingham City on a three-year deal.

Cardiff City have announced the capture of Tom Adeyemi from Birmingham City on a three-year deal.

The 22-year-old had been heavily linked with the newly-relegated Championship club for some time, but the Blues are said to have initially held off by rejecting an early offer from Cardiff.

After reports emerged claiming that the midfielder had handed in a transfer request, Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has secured Adeyemi as his sixth signing of the summer.

"From the outside looking in, Cardiff City has a very strong squad that will challenge for a quick return to the Premier League this season," Adeyemi told Cardiff City Player. "I took no persuading from the manager to come here.

"It was a fantastic opportunity for me to work with somebody like him and to play for a club like Cardiff City. I'm very pleased that everything has been completed ahead of the season and now I can focus on fighting for a place in the side and helping us get the season off to a great start."

Solskjaer added: "Tom has a physical presence, drive and energy – up and down the pitch. He can dictate games and is great at winning and anticipating second balls. We've been interested all summer and I'm thrilled we've got our man ahead of the season kickoff."

Cardiff will begin the new Championship season tomorrow with a trip to Blackburn Rovers.
