Former Cardiff City striker Ian Walsh believes that Craig Bellamy has played a major part in taking the club to the Premier League.

Former Cardiff City frontman Ian Walsh has hailed Craig Bellamy's position within the team following the club's promotion to the Premier League.

The Bluebirds will play top-flight football for the first time next season following a goalless draw with Charlton Athletic at the Cardiff City Stadium last night.

Following their triumph, Walsh has taken the time to single out the impact of Bellamy, who signed for the Championship outfit from Liverpool last year.

"He has played a big part to come back to Cardiff City," Walsh told BBC Radio Five Live. "He was the player on the field that drove everyone forward. Love him or hate him as a person, he is a fantastic professional, he gives 100% every time and he drags the best out of a lot of the players."

Cardiff are at the top of the table with a lead of seven points.
