Russell Slade: 'Cardiff City squad is too big'

New Cardiff City manager Russell Slade reveals that he plans to cut the size of the 31-man squad which he hints has been harming the "togetherness" within their ranks.

New Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has revealed that he plans to cut the size of their squad in an attempt to improve the "togetherness" within their ranks.

The Welsh outfit have 31 senior players and 15 different nationalities within a squad which lies 15th in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League.

Slade, who left Leyton Orient to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the international break, has admitted that the number of bodies is one of the first things which he will be looking to address, hinting that it is harming the team spirit at the Cardiff City Stadium.

"If we want to talk about that togetherness, then I do believe that group has to be smaller," he told reporters.

Slade takes charge of the Bluebirds for the first time when they host unbeaten Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
